DENTAL MALPRACTICE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

It would be safe to say that most people have heard of cases of medical malpractice resulting in personal injury. Incidents like this punctuate the nightly news far too often. But there are other incidents of personal injury resulting from malpractice that usually do not make the headlines: injuries resulting from dental malpractice.

COMMON INJURIES IN THE WORKPLACE

Various industries are susceptible to the risk of workplace injury. The types of injuries that can occur will vary from industry to industry. By recognizing the hazards workers face and by taking steps to improve workplace conditions, the risk of serious personal injury can be decreased. However, even when preventative measures are taken, it can still be possible for workers to sustain an injury and it's likely that some of these individuals will need to seek a worker's compensation claim.

PERSONAL INJURY AND SOCIAL MEDIA: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

In this brave, new world we live in, social media has become an important part of how we communicate with one another. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, first dates, or any other major event or milestone is dutifully chronicled for all of our friends and family.

SOCIAL HOST LIABILITY AND PERSONAL INJURY

Many people are unaware that when accidents occur in the home or on private property that the homeowner can potentially be held responsible for any resulting injuries or damages. Often times these kinds of cases involve the consumption or distribution of alcohol. In other instances, unsafe conditions on the property led to an injury.

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE: MEDICATION ERRORS RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY

More often than not, visits with doctors, nurses, and hospitals will go smoothly. Mistakes resulting in serious personal injury are the exception, not the rule. But unfortunately mistakes do happen, and sometimes individuals are left with injuries that have long-lasting effects on their lives. 3 TIPS FOR FINDING A WORKERS COMPENSATION ATTORNEY

Being injured on the job is a bad enough experience. You could find yourself unable to return to work for extended periods of time and you might have to endure pain from your injuries as well. Adding to the stress of a work-related injury is that workers compensation laws are often complex and highly specialized. To ensure that you are able to navigate your way through the compensation process effectively, it could be a good idea to work with a workers compensation attorney.

PERSONAL INJURY AND MEDICARE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

If you sustain a personal injury as a result of someone else's negligent, reckless, or intentionally dangerous actions, you may be entitled to receive a settlement. In most cases, settlements such as these are paid out by insurance companies, but if you are a Medicare recipient, you may have to forfeit some or all of the settlement you are entitled to.

LAW IN THE NEWS

The field of law is both exciting and, at times, complex. There are also many stereotypes and expectations that the common person has that are based on television shows or movies. The state Supreme Court faces challenges on a daily basis that may not be gracing the silver screen anytime soon, but the decisions they make can still have an impact.

ARE PERSONAL INJURY AND WORKER'S COMPENSATION THE SAME THING?

A surprising question that worker's compensation lawyers hear fairly often is: "Are personal injury and worker's compensation the same?" The short answer is, no, there are several key differences. Primarily, the difference between these two types of claims is that worker's compensation cases are not based on a particular individual being at fault. With personal injury claims cases, there is usually an individual or organization that is liable. Accidents that occur at a place of employment are covered by worker's comp, regardless of whether anyone was negligent.

HAZING RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY: WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

It was only a few short years ago that a controversy involving hazing on college campuses hit home in Connecticut. In 2014, several Greek organizations were suspended for incidents involving hazing. The sorority, Kappa Gamma, was barred until May of 2018 for activities that led to the hospitalization of one of its members after she was forced to consume dangerous levels of alcohol. The Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity also received a five-year suspension after an investigation into that same incident revealed other hazing activities were being perpetrated by its members. More recently, another investigation was launched when a former member of the UCONN women's hockey team came forward to report hazing and bullying against her by her teammates and coach.
